Hands on Pinup Workshops

September 22, 2018

Keen to have a look behind the door of our popular hands on pinup workshops?

The very origin of the Sunshine Coast Pinup School was teaching hands on workshops on pinup hair and makeup. Our first class was in March 2017 in Maleny. We have come a long way since those humble beginnings. The class structure and room format has evolved (for the better!) greatly increasing the learning experience for our Pinup School students.

Luckily, at the start of the year, we had Kara from Pixels and Spice Photography come along to capture a workshop in action (because we are always too busy focusing on the class to grab many photos).

The hands on workshops are capped at a maximum of 10 people for each class. This ensures we are able to provide everyone some one-on-one personalised assistance within the small group format.

Over the past year we have offered many different topics for our hands on workshops, from basic pinup makeup, poodle updos to 60s mod hair and makeup. The clear favourites have definately been our 'Quick and Easy Retro Hairstyles' and 'Victory Rolls and Pinup Makeup' workshops. We have found that many ladies often attend both workshops and leave with the confidence and knowledge to start incorporting more vintage styling into their lifestyle with plenty of hairstyles at their finger tips.

Everyone gets their own mirror in the workshop, it's not just pretty, its functional. Our mirrors are large enough that you can see the majority of your hair when doing hairstyles and don't have to keep fiddling with smaller hand mirrors.

All of our hands on workshops (with the exception of the 'Traveling Pinup School') also include a personalised pinup essentials kit, with all the tools you need to master the hairstyles during the class - including good quality bobby pins.

So you may be wondering where these workshops are held? We host our Sunshine Coast classes in the historic Old Ambulance Station in Nambour. Not only is it a building filled with history, it also features a great vintage shop called Mr Beesleys Vintage Clothing to get yourself into the mood. We occupy the upstairs function room with lots of laughter and colour.

If you have been wanting to come to one of our workshops, make sure you sign up for our email list so you never miss out on any new class updates. You can also subscribe to the events on our Facebook page to be notified when workshops are open for bookings.
